Virtually every genre of music from the last century bears the imprint and influence of the blues – and while Mississippi is not the sole source of the blues, it’s the Delta sound that infiltrated and infused itself into every other form, genre, and style of music that – by the middle years of that century – conquered the world in the forms of rock and roll, jazz, soul, Motown, R&B, and gospel.
